When an app misbehaves, the classic advice is to “clear the cache” or “reset it”. With an IPTV app, those words cover very different actions: some are harmless and only free temporary files, others erase your profiles, and one gives your device brand-new codes — which means your provider has to attach your playlist again. Knowing how to reset an IPTV app and clear its cache the right way, step by step, saves you from undoing more than the problem needed. This guide lists the five levels of reset for Klyvo Play, from the lightest to the most final, what each one erases and keeps, and how to do it on Android, Fire TV, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Windows.
Klyvo Play is a player. It does not provide any channel, film or series: you connect the Xtream-compatible service or M3U link you already have and are authorized to use. Resetting the app never changes your subscription with your provider.
Before any reset: what the app stores
It helps to know what lives on the device and what does not:
- The device codes — the MAC Address and the Device Key. They identify this installation; a playlist your provider attaches on the customer portal is tied to them.
- Your playlists, kept encrypted on the device and with the device's other playlists.
- Profiles, My list, Continue watching, favourites and preferences, stored on the device only.
- A copy of your catalogue and its pictures, so the app opens instantly; it is refreshed in the background and is never older than a week when shown.
Klyvo Play reloads your playlist each time it starts, so new channels and titles appear without any reset. And the app has no “clear cache” button of its own: clearing the cache is done in the device's settings.
One habit makes every level safer: write down your device codes first. They are shown in Settings → Account and device, on the card of this device, and on the welcome screen; on a phone or tablet, a long press on a code copies it. With the MAC Address and the Device Key at hand, you or your provider can always find the device on the customer portal, whatever happens next.
Level 1: close the app and reload the playlist
Most glitches disappear with a clean restart. Close the app completely — Force stop on Android and Fire TV, swipe it away on iPhone and iPad, double-press the TV button on Apple TV and swipe it up, close the window on Windows — then open it again. If you expect new channels, the restart already reloads the playlist; if your playlist is managed on the customer portal, its Force update option makes the app reload it within a few minutes — see the customer portal. Nothing is erased.
Level 2: clear the IPTV app's cache in the system settings
Clearing the cache removes temporary files — mostly pictures — which are downloaded again. Your codes, playlists and profiles stay. It is harmless and worth trying after an update or when posters look wrong:
- Android phone or tablet: Settings → Apps → Klyvo Play → Storage → Clear cache.
- Fire TV: Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → Klyvo Play → Clear cache.
- Android TV box: Settings → Apps → Klyvo Play → Clear cache (names vary by brand).
- iPhone, iPad and Apple TV: the system has no clear-cache button. Restarting the device is the equivalent; on iPhone and iPad, Offload App in the storage settings removes the app while keeping its data.
- Windows: there is no cache button either; closing and reopening the app, or restarting the PC, does the job.
Menu names can vary slightly with the version of the system.
Level 3: sign out of the line
In Settings → Account and device, Sign out takes you “Back to the activation screen”. It disconnects the line from this session and drops the catalogue the app had stored for it, so the next connection reads everything fresh. The device codes and your profiles stay. Use it when the catalogue looks stuck on an old state, or to switch to another source; from the activation screen, connect your source again if it is not picked up on its own.
Level 4: clear data, or reinstall
Clear data (Android, Fire TV: same menu as Clear cache) and uninstalling then reinstalling go further: everything the app stored on the device goes — profiles, My list, Continue watching, favourites, preferences. What comes back after a reinstall:
- On Android and Fire TV, a reinstall keeps the same device codes, so a playlist attached to them on the portal comes back by itself, and the free trial does not start over.
- On iPhone and iPad, the codes are kept in the system keychain, which normally survives a reinstall.
- On Windows, the codes are kept for the same Windows user after an uninstall, so a reinstall finds the same device.
Use this level when the app will not open at all, or keeps failing after levels 1 to 3 — see IPTV app not opening on Fire TV and IPTV app keeps closing. Always reinstall from the official store.
Level 5: Reset this device — the final one
Settings → Account and device → Reset this device is not a repair tool. It permanently erases from this device its identity (MAC Address and Device Key), its playlists, profiles and preferences, asks our server to forget the device, and generates a brand-new identity. To avoid an accidental reset, you must type the word DELETE to confirm.
The consequence matters: the new codes are unknown to your provider. A playlist they attached to the old codes no longer reaches this device, and they have to attach it again with the new ones. That is why this level is meant for two situations only:
- You give away or sell the device and want nothing of yours left on it.
- You want your data deleted from this device, for privacy — see privacy and security of an IPTV player.
Changing devices? You do not need it on the new one: see moving a playlist to a new device.
Which level for which problem?
- New channels or titles missing: level 1 (restart, or Force update on the portal).
- Wrong or missing posters, slow screens after an update: level 2.
- A catalogue stuck on an old state, or switching sources: level 3.
- An app that will not open or keeps failing: level 4.
- Giving the device away, or deleting your data: level 5.
None of these levels fixes a problem on the provider's side. If the line is expired or the server refuses, the app says so — Playlist expired, or a refusal with its code — and a reset changes nothing. Our guide to IPTV not working after an update helps you tell the two apart.
FAQ
Does clearing the cache delete my playlist? No. Clearing the cache only removes temporary files. Clearing data or reinstalling removes what is stored on the device; after a reinstall on Android and Fire TV, the codes stay the same, so a portal playlist comes back.
Is there a clear-cache button inside Klyvo Play? No. Use the system settings described above; the app refreshes its own catalogue copy in the background.
Will a reset restart my free trial? No. Reinstalling on Android keeps the same codes and does not restart the trial. Plans are on the pricing page.
I reset the device by mistake. What now? Note the new MAC Address and Device Key shown on the welcome screen and give them to your provider, who can attach your playlist to them on the portal.
