How do you add an M3U playlist? In short: copy the full M3U link your service gave you, open your IPTV player, choose the M3U link option, paste the link and confirm. In Klyvo Play, that takes less than a minute: the app reads the link, connects to your service and loads your live channels, films and series. This guide walks you through each step on phone, tablet, TV and Windows, explains what a valid M3U URL looks like, and covers the errors you are most likely to meet.
Klyvo Play is a player. It provides no channel, film or series: you connect the service you already have and are authorized to use, with its Xtream login or its M3U link.
What an M3U playlist link looks like
An M3U playlist is a list of streams. Most services that use the Xtream standard deliver it as a link rather than a file. A typical M3U URL looks like this:
http://server.example:8080/get.php?username=YOUR_NAME&password=YOUR_PASSWORD&type=m3u_plus&output=ts
Three pieces of information hide inside it: the server address (with its port, here 8080), your username and your password. The parameters at the end (type, output) only tell the server which format to send. Klyvo Play extracts the server, the username and the password from the link, so an M3U link works exactly like an Xtream login. If you want the theory behind the format, read what an M3U file is; if you are hesitating between the two connection methods, see Xtream login or M3U link.
Be honest with yourself about what you have: Klyvo Play reads M3U links from Xtream-compatible services — the get.php links that contain a username and a password. A plain M3U file stored on your device, or a link without those two parameters, is not supported.
Before you start: three quick checks
- Copy the whole link. M3U URLs are long, and email or chat apps sometimes cut them or add a line break. The link must start with http:// or https:// and contain both username= and password=.
- Check that your line is active. An expired subscription gives the same result as a wrong link. Klyvo Play shows the line status once connected.
- Keep the link private. It contains your password. Never post it in a public forum or a group chat.
How to add an M3U playlist on first launch
The first screen of Klyvo Play is the same on every device. Under Connect your source, there are two tabs: Xtream and M3U link.
- Install Klyvo Play from the store of your device — all platforms are on the download page.
- Open the app and select the M3U link tab.
- Paste the full link your provider gave you. The hint under the field reminds you of the expected shape (…/get.php?username=…&password=…).
- Select Connect. The app shows “Loading your channels…”, then your library appears.
That is all. Your credentials are encrypted and tied to the device, and the next time you open the app it reconnects on its own. If you only want to look around first, Explore the demo on the same screen runs the full app with a royalty-free sample catalogue, without any playlist.
Add another M3U playlist later (My playlists)
Many households have more than one line, or a second playlist for another room. Klyvo Play keeps several playlists per device:
- Open Settings from your avatar.
- Go to My playlists, then Add a playlist.
- Choose M3U link, paste the link, and give it a Name (optional) such as “Living room” or “Second line”.
- Select Add and play: the new playlist becomes the current one.
Each playlist shows its state — Active, Expired or Inactive — and its end date when the server provides it. Play switches to another playlist, Remove deletes one. A device can hold up to 20 playlists; beyond that, the app asks you to remove one first.
Adding an M3U link on a TV without typing it
Pasting is easy on a phone or a PC. On an Apple TV or a Fire TV Stick, typing a 120-character link with a remote is painful. There is a better way: every installation of Klyvo Play shows two codes on its first screen, an address in MAC format and a Device Key. With those two codes, you can sign in to the client portal from your phone or computer, paste the M3U link there, and the TV picks it up by itself within minutes — nothing to type with the remote. Your provider or reseller can do the same for you if you send them the two codes. The whole process is explained in manage your playlists with your MAC address and Device Key.
These codes are not your hardware's real MAC address: they belong to this installation of the app. On the same device, reinstalling the app keeps the same codes.
Device by device: where to paste the M3U URL
- iPhone and iPad: long-press the field to paste. Long-pressing a device code copies it, handy to send it to your provider.
- Android phone or tablet: paste from the clipboard, or share the link from your messaging app and copy it.
- Fire TV Stick and Apple TV: use the portal with your device codes, or type the link with the on-screen keyboard if it is short.
- Windows PC: copy the link from your email and paste it with Ctrl+V. The Windows app plays both http and https sources.
M3U playlist not working? The common errors
Klyvo Play tells you clearly what went wrong instead of showing an empty screen. Here are the messages and what they usually mean:
- “M3U link not recognised”: the link does not contain a username and a password, or it was cut when you copied it. Paste your provider's full get.php link again, or use the Xtream tab with the three details.
- “The server refused these credentials”: the username or password inside the link is wrong, or the line was renewed with new details. Ask your service for the current link. More in invalid login (error 401).
- “Server unreachable”: the address or the port is wrong, the server is down, or your connection is offline. Check the link, then try again a few minutes later.
- A refusal with a code (such as 403): the provider's server answered but refused the connection. The app shows the code it received; see error 403, provider refusal.
If channels load but nothing plays, the problem is no longer the link: it is the stream itself or your connection. Run Settings → Connection & stream test to check what your line can handle.
M3U link and TV guide: add an EPG too
An M3U link carries your channels, not always a complete programme guide. Klyvo Play uses the guide your provider's panel offers and, if you have one, an XMLTV EPG link added to the playlist from the client portal, read by the Klyvo server for a fuller guide. Channels your provider gives no guide for may stay empty. Details in the TV guide (EPG).
FAQ
Can I add an M3U file instead of a link? No. Klyvo Play reads M3U links from Xtream-compatible services (get.php links with a username and a password). Local M3U files are not supported.
Is an M3U link the same as an Xtream login? For an Xtream-compatible service, yes: the link contains the server, the username and the password. You can use either; the result is the same library.
Can I add several M3U playlists? Yes, up to 20 per device in My playlists, and you switch between them with Play.
Does Klyvo Play give me an M3U playlist? No. Klyvo Play is only a player; the playlist comes from the service you subscribe to and are authorized to use.
My provider updated the playlist: do I need to add it again? Usually not. The app reloads your playlist at every launch, and from the portal you can force an update.
