IPTV on a second TV: set up the bedroom TV the easy way

Watching your service in the bedroom too? Setting up IPTV on a second TV takes ten minutes if you know three things: device codes, connection limits and profiles.

Setting up IPTV on a second TV — in the bedroom, a child's room or a guest room — is mostly a matter of adding one small device and attaching the same playlist to it. Plug a Fire TV Stick or an Apple TV into the second TV, install Klyvo Play, and attach your playlist to the new device's codes from your phone: there is nothing to type with the remote. Before you start, check two things: how many devices your service lets you use at the same time, and whether the Wi-Fi reaches the room well. This guide covers both, plus the profile, parental and sleep settings that make a bedroom TV pleasant.

Klyvo Play is a player. It provides no channel, film or series: you connect the service you already have and are authorized to use, with its Xtream login or its M3U link.

Which device for a bedroom TV?

A bedroom TV is usually smaller and watched in HD, often in the evening, sometimes by a child. You rarely need the most powerful device:

  • A Fire TV Stick is the simplest option. A basic HD model is fine on a small HD TV; prefer a model with more than 1 GB of memory if you want Multi-Live, and a 4K model if the bedroom TV is 4K.
  • An Apple TV makes sense if the main TV already has one and you want the same remote and interface everywhere. The subscription offered in the app through your Apple Account covers iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.
  • An existing smart TV in the bedroom: if it runs Fire TV, install Klyvo Play from the Amazon Appstore directly. Google TV and Android TV models get the TV app on Google Play soon; Samsung, LG and other systems need an HDMI device.

A tablet or phone also works for a personal screen in bed — Klyvo Play is on iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tablets.

Add the same playlist to the second TV in minutes

  1. Plug the device into the TV, connect it to Wi-Fi and install Klyvo Play from its store.
  2. On first launch, the app shows an address in MAC format and a Device Key. These codes belong to this installation, not to the hardware.
  3. On your phone, open the client portal and attach your playlist to these two codes — or ask your reseller to do it. The bedroom TV picks the playlist up on its own.
  4. You can also type your Xtream login or M3U link under Connect your source if you prefer.

Each installation has its own codes, so the main TV and the bedroom TV are two separate devices for Klyvo Play. Each new device gets its own 10-day free trial of the full app. The portal is explained in manage your playlists with your MAC address and Device Key.

Connection limits: two TVs at once?

This is the point people miss. Your service decides how many streams can play at the same time with one line. If your line allows one connection, the bedroom TV and the living-room TV can both have the playlist, but only one of them can play at a time; when the second starts, the first may stop or the provider may refuse the stream. If you want two TVs to play simultaneously, check your service's connection count — that is between you and your provider, and Klyvo Play cannot raise it. When a provider refuses a stream, the app shows a clear message rather than a black screen. More in IPTV max connections, and for whole-house planning, IPTV on several devices at home.

Profiles, Kids profile and parental PIN

Profiles, My list and Continue watching are stored on each device, so the bedroom TV starts with a clean slate. That is often an advantage:

  • Create the profiles you need on that TV: one for the adults of the room, or one per child.
  • A Kids profile filters adult content and never shows the adult section. It is the right choice on a child's TV — see the Kids profile.
  • A 4-digit parental PIN locks the Kids profile: leaving it to open another profile requires the code, so a child cannot simply switch to an adult profile.
  • The adult (18+) section is hidden by default, has its own code and closes at every launch.

Favourites are per profile and per device, so add your favourite channels again on the bedroom TV — it takes a minute and keeps each room's list short. You can also choose different countries to organize live TV on each TV: the bedroom TV of someone who mostly watches channels from one country can show those first, while the living-room TV keeps the family's choice. The rest of the playlist always stays reachable under See all channels.

Wi-Fi in the bedroom: check before you blame the TV

Bedrooms are often the furthest rooms from the router, through several walls. A live stream needs a steady connection, and weak Wi-Fi is the first cause of freezing on a second TV. Run Settings → Connection & stream test in Klyvo Play on the bedroom TV: it tells you whether the room handles 4K, HD or SD. If the result is poor:

  • Connect the device to the 5 GHz band if the signal is good enough, or 2.4 GHz if 5 GHz does not reach — 2.4 GHz goes through walls better, at lower speed.
  • Add a mesh Wi-Fi point or a powerline adapter in or near the room.
  • Use an Ethernet adapter for the stick if a cable can reach.
  • Leave Klyvo Play's Live TV buffer on Automatic; on a fragile Wi-Fi, Reinforced — 20 s absorbs longer drops.

Falling asleep in front of the TV: sleep and sound settings

  • Apple TV: set Sleep After in the general settings so the Apple TV and the TV switch off after a period without activity. Reduce Loud Sounds in Video and Audio evens out volume jumps at night.
  • Fire TV: hold the Home button to open the quick menu, which includes Sleep. The TV's own sleep timer, if it has one, is also handy.
  • Headphones: both Fire TV and Apple TV can pair Bluetooth headphones, so one person can watch without waking the other.
  • Continue watching brings you back to the film or episode where you dozed off.

Small touches for a guest room

For a guest room, a Fire TV Stick with Klyvo Play and a Kids profile or a simple adult profile is enough. Because no email or account is needed in Klyvo Play — the device codes identify the installation — guests do not see your personal information. If you move the stick to another room or another TV later, it keeps its codes and its playlist; changing devices entirely is covered in move your playlist to a new device.
