Try an IPTV player without a subscription: the demo

No service yet, or not ready to type a password? Klyvo Play's demo lets you explore the whole app with royalty-free sample content. What it shows, and what it cannot.

Yes, you can try an IPTV player without a subscription: on the first screen of Klyvo Play, select Explore the demo. The app opens with a royalty-free sample catalogue — live demo channels with a TV guide and replay, open films such as Sintel or Big Buck Bunny, sample series with episodes — so you can find your way around Home, Live, Films, Series, Search and the player before connecting anything. No source, no account and no email are needed. The demo shows how the app works; your own channels and formats are then judged during the 10-day free trial with your service. Here is what to look at.

Klyvo Play is a player. It does not provide any channel, film or series: you connect the service you already have and are authorized to use, with its Xtream login or its M3U link.

Why try an IPTV player without a subscription?

An IPTV player is useless without a source: it is an empty shell until you connect a service. That raises a chicken-and-egg question for many people. You might be choosing a player before choosing a service, comparing apps on a new Fire TV Stick, setting up a TV for a parent, or simply not wanting to type a long password with a remote just to see whether you like the interface.

A demo answers that. It lets you judge the parts that belong to the player — the menus, the speed, the player controls, the way a TV guide is laid out — with content that is legal to show anywhere. Read IPTV player vs IPTV provider if the distinction is new to you.

How to open the Klyvo Play demo

  1. Install Klyvo Play on your device from its store, or the Windows installer — see the download page.
  2. Open the app. The first screen shows your device codes and the ways to connect a source.
  3. Select Explore the demo.
  4. Browse as you would with a real service.

The demo is also available later, from Settings, under Explore the demo ("Royalty-free content, without your playlist"), even on a device that already has a playlist — handy to show the app to someone without opening your own catalogue.

What the demo contains

  • Live demo channels, each with a believable programme guide built on the device and aligned with the real clock, so Live and the TV guide look like everyday use.
  • Replay on those channels, covering the last two days: past programmes play royalty-free films, so you can try catch-up without asking anything of a provider.
  • Films in several categories, including the open Blender films — Big Buck Bunny, Elephants Dream, Sintel and Tears of Steel — with posters and summaries.
  • Series with episodes and stills, to try seasons, Continue watching and the next-episode card.
  • A sample live-score ribbon on Home, with invented teams in an invented demo league.

Every stream is a public, royalty-free test asset. Klyvo Play tries several mirrors for each one when you press Play, so the demo keeps playing even if one public host goes offline.

What you can judge in the demo

  • Navigation: how fast menus respond on your device, how readable the TV interface is from the sofa, how comfortable touch gestures are on a phone.
  • The player: controls, scrubbing, double-tap to skip 10 seconds on a phone, picture format (fit or fill), playback speed for films.
  • The TV guide and replay: how a programme grid and a replay list are presented.
  • Everyday features: Search, My list, Continue watching, profiles and Multi-Live with two demo channels side by side (except on 1 GB TV sticks).
  • The settings: language of the app, playback quality, live TV buffer, parental controls.

What the demo cannot tell you

The demo is a showroom, not a test of your service. A few things can only be checked with your own source:

  • Your formats: whether the MKV, HEVC or Dolby streams your service sends play smoothly on your hardware.
  • Your playlist size: how the app behaves with your thousands of channels, your countries and your bouquets.
  • Your TV guide: how complete your service's guide is.
  • Your connection to your service: evening congestion, server stability, connection limits.
  • Some features by design: My playlists, the Adult 18+ mode and the sport hub do not exist in the demo.

That is what the 10-day free trial is for: every new device gets the full app with your own service, so you can test everything that matters before deciding. See IPTV player free trial.

From demo to your own service

When you are ready, there are two ways out of the demo:

  • Without typing: give the device codes shown on the first screen (the MAC-style address and the Device Key) to your service or reseller, or attach the playlist yourself on the customer portal. While you are in the demo, the app keeps watching for it: as soon as a playlist is attached, it shows that the device is activated and opens your line — never in the middle of a film; it waits for you to close it. See adding a playlist online.
  • By typing: in Settings, select Sign out ("Back to the activation screen"), then connect your Xtream login or M3U link.

The demo is remembered across launches, so you can close the app and come back to it later. Nothing you do in the demo touches a real line.

Showing the app to someone else

The demo is also the easiest way to show Klyvo Play to another person: a parent you are setting up a TV for, a friend who asks what you use, a family member who wants to see the Kids profile before you create one. Because the content is royalty-free and the demo never touches a real line, you can open it on any screen without revealing your own catalogue or your login.

It works the same way on an iPhone, an Android phone, an Apple TV, a Fire TV Stick or a Windows PC, so you can also use it to compare how the interface feels on two of your devices before deciding where to watch. For a side-by-side view of two channels, try Multi-Live with the demo channels.

A ten-minute demo checklist

  1. Open Live, move through the demo channels and watch how quickly the picture appears.
  2. Open the TV guide, then a past programme in Replay.
  3. Start a Blender film, leave halfway, and check it waits in Continue watching.
  4. Open a series, play an episode and wait for the next-episode card.
  5. Search for a title with two letters, add it to My list, and create a second profile.
  6. Try Multi-Live with two demo channels, then the picture format setting.

If you like what you see, the next step is to connect your service and test it for real. Our IPTV beginner's checklist lists what to have ready.
